McCrone, Inc. opened its first Delmarva Branch office in Centreville in 1955. The Centreville office provides engineering, surveying and land planning services to Queen Anne's, Talbot, Caroline and Kent Counties. This has enabled the Centreville office to amass an incredible archive of local property information. If we have not completed a survey of your property, there is a good chance we have completed one of your neighbor's.

Key Personnel:

Bill Ewald, Prof LS
Bill Ewald is a professional land surveyor licensed in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. He manages all survey operations in the Centreville Office.  He has 25 years of experience, the last nine of which have been with McCrone, Inc.  Having worked his way through the ranks, Bill has experience in many aspects of the profession.  This experience consists of boundary, topographic, and ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys as well as highway, residential and commercial construction stakeout.


Perry A. Otwell, PE
Perry A. Otwell, PE, Engineering Project Manager, is responsible for overseeing all residential, commercial, institutional, and environmental civil engineering projects in Queen Anne’s, Talbot, and surrounding counties. Mr. Otwell brings over 27 years of professional engineering and design experience to McCrone, including eleven years as proprietor of his own civil engineering firm. Perry has worked on the Eastern Shore for the past 23 years which has enabled him to gain extensive experience in the unique problems associated with the region. He has held positions such as project manager, designer, construction superintendent, and government reviewer on various types of land development and municipal projects. Otwell is well-versed on all new state and local regulations with regard to the design, inspection and maintenance of stormwater management facilities, Critical Area Regulations, and State Highway Administration specifications pertaining to the design and construction of roads and storm drains. Perry is licensed in Maryland and Delaware and holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.


Steve Layden, PE, LEED AP
Steve Layden has 15 years of civil and environmental engineering design experience producing engineering plans, technical construction specifications, detailed drainage reports, and hydrologic analyses for commercial site development and residential subdivisions. His specialties include: design of roadways, water distribution and sanitary sewers (gravity, low-pressure force main, and vacuum main); bulkheads, piers and living shorelines; environmental permitting; and compliance with the 2009 Maryland Stormwater Management Manual. Steve’s particular interests and expertise center around projects that emphasize Environmental Site Design principles and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
